RIDE 17 JUIN 2007/ 17TH OF JUNE 2007 RIDE

La ride commence au coin de Rachel et St-Urbain en face de V-Low à 17H00. Je cherche une destination oû on pourrait faire des compétitions de brake skid et de drag. Ça peut être un parking ou une rue industriel. J'attends vos suggestions pi sa presse! :) Amenez vos pneus et tripes de spare, moi j'amène mes outils pour les roues débarqués et les chaines cassées.

The ride starts at Rachel and St-Urbain in front of V-Low at 5pm. I am looking for a destination where we could have brake skid and drag race competitions. It could be a parking lot or an industrial street. I need your suggestions pronto! :) Bring some spare tubes and tires, I will bring my tools for wheels that come off and broken chains.

La Ville de St-Eustache organise une vélo fête ce Dimanche 10 juin avec trois parcours de 15, 40 et 70 km. Louis-René sera présent à la randonnée de 40 km avec ses musclebikes et son clan. Consultez le site de la vélo fête pour plus de renseignement.

Samedi soir à 23H30 sur le tard a eu lieu une ride de nuit qui est parti du Carré St-Louis. 15 Freaks sur les lieux pour un petit tour dans le vieux port et le centre ville. Les montures étaient du super Chopper de Éric Hannan, au cruiser, aux CCM Marauder mint, BMX, Mountain Bike, etc... On est pas snob pour les vélos, tu te pointe et on est content.:) La fin de la ride s'est terminé avec un démonstration de feux d'artifices avec M et K qui se tiraient dessus de chaque coté de la fontaine! Je savais pas que des "fireball" ça rebondis sur l'eau!!!

Saturday night at 11H30pm, we had a pretty late night ride that left from Carré St-Louis. 15 Freaks were on hand for a little ride in the old port and downtown. The irdes were mixt from the awesome choppers of Eric Hannan, to cruisers, a mint CCM Marauder, BMX, Mountain Bike, etc... We are not bike snobs, you show up for the ride and we are happy to see you. :) The ride ended with a fireworks demonstration from M and K who decided to duel each other across the water fountain. I had no idea that fireballs can skip on water!!!

Montréal masse critique/critical mass 25 mai 2007

La masse critique de vendredi fut excellente. Belle température, beaucoup de monde, de la bonne humeur et de 5 policiers à vélo compréhensifs et professionnels. La randonnée s'est déroulé sans aucun problène et nous avons roulé pendant 1 heure et demi avant de finir notre petit tour au Parc Lafontaine pour une bouffe. À souligner, l'excellent travail des policiers à vélo du poste 20 qui nous ont accompagné pendant toute la randonné afin de sécuriser les intersections. Si ce genre de collaboration continue, la masse critique me peut que grandir en nombre. Quelqu'un a pris le temps de s'assoir et parler avec le SPVM recemment et les dividendes ont été immédiates. Félicitations à tous! Prochaine masse 29 juin 2007, même bat heure, même bat poste!




Last Friday's critical mass was excellent. Nice weather, lots of people, great ambiance and 5 comprehensive and professionnal bike cops. The ride went on without any problems and we rolled for an hour and a half before ending up at lafontaine Park for a snack. I must give credit to the bicycle officers of station 20 who stayed with us for the entire ride, securing intersections as we went along. If this kind of cooperation remains, the mass can only get bigger and better. Somebody took the time to sit down with the SPVM and explained the concept to them and the dividends of that meeting paid off. Congratulations to everyone! Next mass is June 29th, same bat time, same bat channel!

RIDE DE NUIT 26 MAI / NITE RIDE MAY 26TH

Vu sur Craig's list. Ride de nuit le 26 mai. Départ du Carré St-Louis sur St-Denis à 23H30, destination circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Le thème est le "glowstick" achetez des glowstick au magasin à une piasse et les installer dans les rayons de vos roues.

Masse Critique 27 avril / Critical Mass 27th April

Voici un rapport de la randonnée du 27 avril, la masse critique. J'étais tout seul des Freak Bike! Pas surprenant, la température était dégueulasse. mais c'est pas grave. J'ai fait la rencontre de plusieurs gens et nous avons des nouveaux membres qui se préparent à faire un atelier de vélo dans le Mile End. Riley et P-O ;) Anyways, la prochaine est le 25 mai, départ au Square Phillips Union et Ste-Catherine à 18H00, je crois que les bikes modifiés ont leurs places là et la cause est juste. Here's a report of the ride on April 27th, critical mass. I was the only Freak there! Not surprising, the weather sucked big time. But that's ok, I had the chance to meet new members that are about to put together a bike clinic in the Mile End district and weld some crazy stuff together. Riley and P-O ;) Anyhoo, the next one is May 25th, ride off is at 6H00PM from Phillips Square corner Union and Ste-Catherine. I believe that the Freak Bikes do have a place there and the cause is just. For more info on my little adventure, check this article.

Earth Day Parade / Parade du Jour de la Terre

5 membres du Freak Bike Militia se sont pointés pour la parade avec les riders de V-Low et je dois admettre que c'était pas mal pénible comme expérience. Pas mal de monde ça veut dire pas mal slow, au point de pas pouvoir vraiment roulé avant d'arriver sur Mont-Royal. Pas une ride perdu par contre. Éric Hannan a clenché deux gars en vélo de montage sur Rachel sur son Chopper...en montant la pente vers le Parc Jeanne-Mance. À la fin de la "marche", on est pas resté pour les speachs écolos, mais nous avons plutôt descendu la rue Mont-Royal "freak style" Avec les deux LS-300 de Hannan Customs devant la procession, les 25 vélos présent ont pris une voie complète et nous avons fait le chemin aussi vite et parfois plus que le traffic pour allez bouffer des frites et hot dogs. Pas mal le fun. :)

Prochaine ride, Vendredi le 27 avril à 17H00 au coin de Ste-Catherine et Union pour la masse critique. On va laissé les extrèmistes faire leurs cirque et on va profiter de l'escorte policière pour se promener dans la rue.

5 members of the Freak Bikes showed up for the parade with the riders from V-Low and I must admit that it was a pretty awful march. Yeah march, there were so many people chocked up in the small start off street that we had to walk until we hit Mont-Royal. The ride wasn't a complete loss. Eric Hannan blew away 2 mountain bikers on Rachel with his Chopper...going uphill to Jeanne-Mance Park. At the end of the "march" we decided not to stick around for all those green speaches and left down Mont-Royal street "freak style". With two LS-300's from Hannan Customs leading the pack, all 25 bikes took an entire lane to cruise down for hot dogs and fries at the same speed and sometimes faster than traffic. lots of fun. :)

Next ride, critical mass at the corner of Ste-Catherine and Union on Friday the 27th of April at 17H00. We'll let the extremist to their stuff and we'll take advantage of the Police escort to ride on the streets.
